DEADLY ATV STATISTICS REVEALED

At Legally Pink Law, we represent clients involved in motorcycle and automobile accidents. But did you know that ATV and 4-wheeler accidents can be just as dangerous and even deadly?

In a new infographic released by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, we’re reminded of some of the danger with statistics including:

  • 407 deaths in Florida alone over a 25 year period from ATV accidents
  • more than 100,000 injuries nationwide from ATV accidents in 2011. 30% of those injuries were for children under age 16.
  • An ATV can weigh 600lbs and averages 65 miles per hour during normal recreational use. You don’t have to be an engineer to understand the danger.

And while you may think it’s safer to ride on paved roads rather than in rural or wooded areas, think again. A third of all accidents an injuries occurred on paved roads–that’s more than any other type of terrain.

With proper precautions, riding an ATV can be enjoyable and exciting. But please use caution and contact Orlando personal injury attorney Carolyn Salzmann if you need representation after an ATV accident.
