HOW IMPORTANT ARE WITNESSES TO AN ACCIDENT?

Posted By Legally Pink Law || 31-Dec-2012

Car Accident

When you are looking for a Personal Injury Attorney in Orlando, Florida then you want the best and Legally Pink Law is available to assist you with any automobile accidents you have been involved in. My sister and I have the worst luck when it comes to car accidents. Between the two of us we have been involved in 5 accidents ( none of which have been our fault) between August 2011 and November 2012. I have learned an awful lot through these unfortunate experiences. If you had asked me three years ago, “how important are witnesses to an accident?” I would have said, “kind of important.” That would have been an absolute wrong answer. Witnesses are extremely important and I cannot stress that enough. After you are involved in an accident, there are four steps you need to take immediately.

1. Call 911 and report the accident.

2. Exchange information with all other drivers involved in the accident

3. Investigate. Seek out witnesses and take photos.

4. Seek Medical Attention.

Number three is essential and many times this doesn’t occur to those involved because an accident causes chaos and you are unsure of what to do. However that information will be crucial in order to pursue a personal injury claim after an automobile accident. When my sister was T-boned, the driver that turned left into an intersection told the police she had the green arrow. Although this was not the case, it was a classic “he said, she said” scenario.

However, since my sister had some experience in this department she went to the gas station that was at the intersection and asked if they had surveillance cameras that might be of any assistance. As soon as she told the saleswoman why she was asking, the woman immediately knew what accident she was referring to and said she saw the whole thing. This woman gave a statement saying that the other driver did not have the green light. Since there was now a witness, the police cited the other driver and my sister has been compensated through the other driver’s insurance.

Without witnesses, a Personal Injury Attorney may not be able to pursue your claim leaving you with unpaid medical bills, unreimbursed wage losses and nothing for the inconvenience and the pain that results from your injuries. Our attorneys at Legally Pink Law don’t ever want this to be the case for you and we will work our absolute hardest to bring your personal injury case to justice.

So after the police are called as well as an ambulance if necessary, take a moment to think about gathering contact information for witnesses. Legally Pink Law is available to assist you if you have been involved in an automobile accident in Orlando, Florida so please give us a call to schedule your free consultation and see how we can help!
